- The music extravaganza takes place in Belfast on 6th November
Offenbach, 18th October 2011
Hyundai, official pan-European partner of the 2011 MTV EMAs, has revealed first details of the company’s partnership activities, which offer music fans and aspiring pop stars across Europe once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to participate in the event.
The initiatives set up by Hyundai share a “1+2” theme, inspired by the unique door configuration of the new Hyundai Veloster – the ‘Official Wheels’ for the 2011 MTV EMAs. Delivering bold design and innovation to Europe’s compact coupe segment, the Veloster features one door on the driver’s side and two doors on the passenger side for easy rear-seat access.
The 1+2 Band Contest gives amateur bands from around Europe an amazing opportunity to join world-famous names on stage to celebrate the 2011 MTV EMAs. Aspiring musicians will be invited online to upload their music videos, with the public choosing their favourite entrants before a select MTV jury decides the ultimate winner to play alongside Snow Patrol and Jason Derulo on the night of the 2011 MTV EMAs.
The 1+2 Music Quiz targets music fans from across Europe, offering the chance to travel with two friends to experience the thrilling atmosphere and live performances at the MTV EMAs. To be invited to Belfast, entrants have to correctly answer a series of questions via a challenging online competition, to prove their passion for music.
Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, commented: “Hyundai is delighted to be a partner of the MTV EMAs for the first time, and the activities we’ve set up will provide fantastic opportunities for Europe’s most talented bands and biggest music fans.
“The eventual winners will have to show real energy, innovation and dynamism to triumph over other competitors – characteristics that fit well with the nature of Veloster. The unique 1+2 door sports coupe is the perfect match for the MTV EMAs, and our partnership truly captures the spirit of Hyundai's brand slogan New Thinking. New Possibilities,” Allan Rushforth concluded.
